Cooperation sought to reduce refinery accidents

Environmental watchdog groups unveiled a statewide refinery accidents
database this morning in an effort to get industry, regulators and
communities statewide to work together to improve refineries' performance
and reduce emissions.

The Louisiana Bucket Brigade also released a report on more than 2,000
accident reports to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality titled
"Common Ground: Why Cooperation to Reduce Accidents at Louisiana Refineries
is Needed Now."

The Refinery Efficiency Initiative is being launched by the Bucket Brigade,
St. Bernard Citizens for Environmental Quality, Concerned Citizens Around
Murphy, Residents for Air Neutralization, Save Our Neighborhoods, Star
Terrace Neighborhood Association, Communities Empowered for Change and
Concerned Citizens of Norco.

In addition to a press conference in New Orleans, the groups are holding
press conferences in Baton Rouge, Chalmette, Lake Charles, LaPlace and
Shreveport.
