MARDI GRAS RETURNS TO ST. BERNARD
Riders are needed to join the Krewe of Gladiators that is rolling on Mardi
Gras Day - Planning meeting December 9
The Krewe of Gladiators is bringing back the traditional family celebration
to St. Bernard on Mardi Gras Day in 2010.Get the barbeque pits and the ice
chests and get ready to party as the safe and fun Mardi Gras celebration
returns to St. Bernard.
A meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 7 p.m. in the
Sicilian Room at Rocky and Carlo's for all members past, present and future
who are interested in parading.
The krewe needs riders in order to present a parade which will make St.
Bernard the place to have fun on Mardi Gras Day for the whole family in a
truly safe setting. The parade is set to start Mardi Gras Day, February 16,
2010, at 10 a.m. and will roll on the traditional route. It will end with a
community party at Torres Park.
For as little as $2,600, a group of 16 riders can parade with costumes
provided by the krewe. Larger floats are available for $3,000 which can hold
up to 35 riders. Everyone is invited - children, grandma, grandpa - the
whole family can ride on one float together.
Individuals can ride for $200. Trucks are also invited to parade for $175.
Should you have any questions, contact Bill Egan, Captain of the Krewe of
Gladiators, at 504-342-2445.
