Christmas Cash Back Program held December 19 at Civic Center

More than $1,500 in cash and gift cards awarded for shopping in St. Bernard 

 

 

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro Jr. in conjunction with the
St. Bernard Economic Development Foundation held the second annual Christmas
Cash Back program to boost holiday retail sales in St. Bernard and to give
shoppers an incentive to Shop St. Bernard. More than $1,500 was given away
in cash and gift certificates for the event December 19 at the St. Bernard
Civic Center Ballroom.

 

Shoppers who saved their retail receipts were entered into drawings for cash
and prizes and they were able to shop at the various vendors who supported
the event.

 

"It's important to encourage people to do their holiday shopping in St.
Bernard," President Taffaro said. "The program is meant to encourage local
support of our business."

 

President Taffaro and several businesses made donations to the St. Bernard
Parish Economic Development Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Economic
Development Commission. Shoppers who saved their receipts from St. Bernard
retailers earned one raffle ticket for every $100 in receipts that was
placed in the prize drawings. The idea is to award those who shop locally
with the prospect of winning a little extra Christmas cash. The more the
shoppers spend, the better their chances of winning and the better supported
local businesses would be.

 

The program was announced in mid-November and coordinated the kick-off with
the St. Bernard Chamber of Commerce's Annual Shop St. Bernard Event on
November 19. 

 

The following businesses had booths selling their products at the Christmas
Business Gathering at the Civic Center:

*        Art & Frame - 1030 E. Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette.

*        Flooring Showcase Rugs & Interior - 2620 Delille Street, Chalmette.

*        Mike's Lighting & Cabinet Center - 1924 E. Judge Perez Drive,
Chalmette.

*        Todd's Technology - 3001 Paris Road, Chalmette.
