Federal Fishery Recovery Program meeting Jan. 14 in Civic Center Ballroom

The Federal Fishery Recovery Program was established to revitalize
Louisiana's commercial fishing industry impacted by Hurricanes Gustav and
Ike.

There will be a public meeting to explain these programs on Thursday,
January 14, 2010 from 10 a.m. to noon in the St. Bernard Civic Center Grand
Ballroom at 3220 Jean Lafitte Parkway in Chalmette.

Under this initiative, there are four programs which are designed to help
Louisiana commercial fishermen and wholesale/retail seafood dealers recover
expenses from the devastation of both storms. Each program is designed to
stimulate economic revitalization by maintaining employment in the
commercial fishing industry and providing viable resources to commercial
fisherman. The programs are:

* Gear Technology Program
* Commercial Fisherman Grant Loan Program
* Coastal Communities Fisheries Recovery Program
* Wholesale Dealer Broker Program
