The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a prescription-drug
scam by a woman who worked for a Chalmette dentist and allegedly wrote
unauthorized pain-pill prescriptions for herself and others.

Since the woman was arrested earlier this month, five of her relatives and
friends have also been arrested, according to sheriff's office spokesman
Steve Cannizaro.

Tiffany Holmes, 20, of Chalmette, was booked with eight counts of obtaining
controlled dangerous substances by fraud and deceit. She has admitted
writing the prescriptions and was released on an undisclosed bond, officials
said.

Since then, sheriff's deputies have arrested her brother, Gino Holmes, 22,
of Meraux; and four other Chalmette residents: Holmes' father, Frank
Roberts, 44 and his girlfriend, Rebecca Snyder, 51, and brothers Allen and
Adam Campo, 23 and 21, who were described as friends of Tiffany Holmes. All
of the defendants were booked under the same statute.

The dentist, who was not named, reported the crime after finding that
Tiffany Holmes had used his office's computers to write unauthorized
prescriptions for a total of 160 pills of hydrocodone, a narcotic that
produces euphoric highs similar to morphine, according to U.S. Drug
Enforcement Administration factsheets, which note that the drug has been
commonly sold by illegal fly-by-night "Internet pharmacies" for $5 or $7 per
pill.
