Man arrested in Shreveport for decade-old, St. Bernard rape

SHREVEPORT, La. - Police arrested a man in Shreveport for the alleged rape
of a woman that happened 1998 in St. Bernard Parish, after the woman came
forward after she was contacted by him a social networking site, according
to St. Bernard Parish spokesman Steve Cannizaro.

John Jason Wallace, 40, who is custody in Shreveport on charges of obscenity
and trespassing is also being held on an arrest warrant from St. Bernard
Parish, said police.  He will be charged with aggravated rape when he is
returned to St. Benard Parish.

"A St. Bernard judge signed the warrant of arrest following an investigation
by sheriff's detectives, including seeing emails sent by the man to the
woman's social networking site in which Wallace wanted to re-connect with
her," said t. Bernard Chief Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann.

"The woman, who still lives in St. Bernard Parish, said she was sexually
abused by Wallace numerous times when she was 10-years-old and he was living
in the parish," Pohlmann said.

 The victim, according to police, was scared by Wallace's attempts to reach
out to her through the social networking site and contacted police at the
end of 2009.
