STATEMENT FROM RNC CHAIRMAN MICHAEL STEELE ON DEBT CEILING LAW
 
WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele
released the following statement today:
 
"This afternoon President Obama sat behind closed doors and with no cameras
present signed into law a bill increasing America's credit card limit from
$12.3 trillion to $14.2 trillion.  With a simple stroke of his pen,
President Obama now has the ability to continue his binge spending agenda to
the tune of an additional $1.9 trillion, the largest one-time increase in
our history.  If the president thinks he can hide his embarrassing binge
spending habit behind a thin fig leaf like PAYGO, then he truly has hit rock
bottom. While the Democrats spend their President's Day recess celebrating
their failed $862 billion stimulus package, the taxpayers will continue to
foot the bill for the Democrats' fiscal irresponsibility."
