Jan Buras, the president of JaRoy Construction, Inc. based in Kenner was
arrested Thursday following an investigation that involved state and local
agencies.

Buras is accused of failing to pay sub-contractors for work done for public
and private organizations.

The arrest is the latest in a series of problems related to the company.
Last year, the Louisiana Attorney General's office launched a criminal probe
into JaRoy Construction's work on a St. Bernard Parish fire station.

The company was accused of shoddy work on the foundation of Station Number 5
in Chalmette. A cease and desist order at one point stalled construction on
that project, though work later resumed.

JaRoy Construction has been involved in a number of high-profile projects,
according to the company's website. Among them: the refurbishing of
Lakefront Arena and a remodeling of the Aquarium of the Americas Riverfront
Park.

The company is listed as accredited by the Better Business Bureau since
January 2004 and has an "A" rating from that organization.
