A St. Bernard Parish couple was arrested at a parade Sunday after being
accused of giving a child a chocolate-flavored alcoholic beverage, the St.
Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said Nicholas Lee, 19, 2221 Christie, Poydras, and his
girlfriend, Jaelin Manuel, 19, 404 Alpaca, Arabi, were booked with cruelty
to a juvenile stemming from an incident at the parish's Irish Italian
Islenos Community Parade in Chalmette.

The Sheriff's Office said a person on the route told a deputy that the
couple poured a frozen alcoholic beverage into Lee's son's bottle and handed
it to the boy. The boy is 1, the Sheriff's Office said.

The Sheriff's Office said the couple would not acknowledge giving the boy an
alcoholic beverage, but that there appeared to be a chocolate stain on the
boy's shirt. The boy was checked out at the scene by medical personnel, who
determined he did not have to be taken to a hospital. His mother was called
to pick him up.

Lee remained in St. Bernard Parish Prison on Monday, a Sheriff's Office
spokesman said. Manuel was released after posting $5,000 bond.

Also during the parade, two float riders were arrested on obscenity-related
offenses, the Sheriff's Office said.

Ray Miller Jr., 22, 2128 Liviccari Drive, Violet, was booked with disturbing
the peace and obscenity after allegedly exposing himself to the crowd while
on the float. Arrest reports said he was taken off the float and arrested.

Danielle McDevitt, 22, 2301 Edenborn Ave., Metairie, was booked with
disturbing the peace by being intoxicated and obscenity after parade-goers
told a deputy she had been dancing on the float "in exotic fashion'' with
her breasts exposed.

She too was pulled off the float and arrested.

Miller and McDevitt were both released on unspecified bonds, the Sheriff's
Office said.
