St. Bernard Parish plans busy days ahead to mark completion, beginning of
hurricane recovery projects

St. Bernard Parish is preparing a couple of ribbon cuttings and a ground
breaking in the coming days for Hurricane Katrina recovery projects.

On Thursday, officials will gather to celebrate the grand opening of Violet
Park No. 2, at 6609 E. St. Bernard Highway. The event begins at 9 a.m. and
marks the completion of a $700,000 project to repair the ball park and
rebuild the concession stand.

On March 29, a ceremony will mark the beginning of construction on the
Aycock Barn/Open Air Seafood Market in Arabi. The project at 409 Aycock St.
involves $2.1 million of work to convert the Aycock Barn into a
family-friendly open air market for seafood vendors and a pop-up fountains
for the children. The ceremony is at 8 a.m.

On March 30, the parish Maintenance Garage at 120 Agriculture St. off Paris
Road in Chalmette. The grand opening is at 8 a.m.
