[StBernard] St. Bernard deputies arrest owner of pit bull that attacked 5-year-old

ARABI, La. - St. Bernard Parish deputies arrested a women for negligence
after her pit-bull attacked a 5-year-old Arabi boy last month, according to
officials.

47-year-old Rosalie Aguilar was arrested Wednesday and booked with negligent
injury and obstruction of justice for initially hiding the animal from
authorities, said St. Bernard Parish Chief Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann.

The 5-year-old's deep cuts to the face required 32 stitches. He was attacked
when he went outside to play with his godfather at about 6:30 p.m. on April
29.

Aguilar told deputies the 7-month-old pit bull had never hurt anyone before.

Beth Brewster, director of St. Bernard animal control, said Aguilar signed
the dog over to the parish. Because the dog has been labeled vicious and
non-adoptable, it will be euthanized.
