Grand Opening of the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center Auditorium Saturday,
May 8

Ribbon cutting and tours from 6 to 7 p.m.



St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro Jr. and St. Bernard Parish
Council members along with FEMA and a host of local officials, will
celebrate an important Recovery and Growth milestone in St. Bernard Parish
with the Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Frederick J. Sigur
Civic Center Auditorium this Saturday, May 8. The 6 p.m. ribbon cutting will
be followed by public tours of the facility until 7 p.m.



WHO: Officials expected to attend the event include:



* St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr.

* Mark Landry, Acting Director of FEMA's Louisiana Transitional
Recovery Office

* St. Bernard Parish Council members

* Civic Center Executive Director Melissa Jurisich



WHAT: Saturday's Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening of the
Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center Auditorium will mean St. Bernard will have a
new state-of-the-art three-story 54,000-square-foot entertainment/rental
venue in addition to the 10,000 square feet of open ballroom space in the
adjacent Grand Ballroom that reopened in August of 2008 and has successfully
hosted hundreds of events. The approximate $7 million renovation of the
auditorium originally constructed in 1965 will allow the parish to offer a
venue with a seating capacity of nearly 3,000 with all the latest features
in audio-visual capabilities for producing memorable events.

Public may tour the facility until 7 p.m.
