PHOTO RELEASE: Emulsified Oil Reaches Marsh Island
BATON ROUGE, La. - Photos from the Shoreline Cleanup and Assessment Team that visited Marsh Island Wednesday show emulsified oil washed ashore.
The state had received reports of oil sheen in the area. Upon receiving these reports, a SCAT team was sent to confirm the presence of oil there. Department of Environmental Quality scientists on the SCAT team confirmed yesterday that emulsified oil, about 200 yards long, was on the shore of Marsh Island in Iberia Parish.
The oil will be tested to determine if it is from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
