Workforce Commission Mobile Units to Provide Services in Four Locations Tomorrow and Monday

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) will have four mobile units open tomorrow, Saturday, May 29, and on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, offering services for individuals affected by the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Mobile unit locations are:

* Islenos Museum, 1345 Bayou Road, St. Bernard. Open 9:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.
* 2654 Jean Lafitte Blvd. (adjacent to the Town Hall), Lafitte. Open 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
* Grand Isle Community Center, 3811 La. 1, Grand Isle. Open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
* Lafourche Parish Library, 16241 E. Main St., Cut Off. Open 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

These units will continue to provide services during the same hours on Tuesday through Friday of next week.

Starting Tuesday, June 1, and continuing through Friday, June 4, a fifth mobile unit will be providing services in Port Sulphur at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 28698 Highway 23. Hours are 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

A range of services will be offered, including assistance with applying for potential jobs that may become available due to the oil spill.

A toll-free hotline has been established by BP to discuss spill-related damage claims, including loss of income: 1-800-440-0858.

Workforce Commission services are offered at no cost to employers and participating job seekers.
