St. Bernard Parish Oil Response Update



A total of 59 vessels deployed in St. Bernard Parish waters today to conduct
boom deployment, reconnaissance and repair as well as trawling operations
and pollution investigation. Crews deployed 8,000 feet of hard oil
containment boom and 1,000 feet of soft absorbent boom in St. Bernard Parish
waters.



There is a BP Claims Center, SBA Center and Food Stamps Assistance located
at 1345 Bayou Road at the Rosa Ducros Tennant Museum in St. Bernard Village.
The adjustors from BP Claims are available seven days a week from 8 a.m. to
8 p.m. SBA officials are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6
p.m. Food Stamps Assistance is available Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.
until noon. Additionally, there is a Catholic Charities Outreach Coordinator
posted at the museum Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.



As part of the oil response/cleanup training schedule for St. Bernard Parish
Vessels of Opportunity fishermen, an additional 280 fishermen attended the
final round of 40-hour HazMat training at Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center
Wednesday. This brings the total number of fishermen who have either
completed or will complete this class to 771 people.
