An 18-year-old St. Bernard Parish man has been arrested in connection with
the forcible rape of a woman at a Chalmette house Monday, the St. Bernard
Parish Sheriff's Office said.

Jeremy Bowden, of 245-B Bayou Road, St. Bernard, was booked Tuesday. He was
being held in St. Bernard Parish Prison in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Bowden has maintained that the sex between him and the woman was consensual,
the Sheriff's Office siad.

The woman, who is also 18 and lives in the eastern part of the parish,
called the Sheriff's Office Monday to report she had been raped by Bowden
earlier that day, Chief Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann said.

The woman told deputies she had been out to a movie with Bowden and group of
other people Sunday, and that the group returned early Monday morning to a
home belonging to one of the people in the group. The woman said she and
Bowden went into a bedroom, where he physically forced her to engage in a
sex act, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Forcible rape carries a maximum sentence of up to 40 years in prison.
