No new candidates for St. Bernard elections; qualifying ends Friday

Qualifying for the Oct. 2 elections in St. Bernard Parish closes Friday.
After a flurry of candidates signed up for School Board and judicial races
Wednesday, the scene was starkly different Thursday - no new candidates
jumped into any of the races.

Here is who has qualified for St. Bernard Parish School Board elections so
far:

1st District: Lynette DiFatta, a R-Arabi. DiFatta currently holds the
board's 3rd District post.

2nd District: Incumbent William Egan, D-Arabi.

3rd District: No qualifiers Wednesday or Thursday.

4th District: Sean Warner, other party, Chalmette.

5th District: Incumbent Joe Long Sr., R-Chalmette.

6th District: Incumbent Hugh Craft, D-Chalmette.

7th District: Incumbent Diana Dysart, D-Chalmette.

8th District: Incumbent Cliff Englande, no party, Meraux.

9th District: Incumbent Henderson Lewis, D-Violet.

10th District: Ron Nicosia, D-St. Bernard. Nicosia took over the post this
year when his son became a district judge.

11th District: Incumbent Donald Campbell, R-St. Bernard.

In the state 4th Circuit Court of Appeal race, Daniel Dysart, D-Chalmette,
so far is the lone qualifier for the 3rd District, Div. A post, which is
elected in St. Bernard Parish. St. Bernard voters will also cast votes in
the court's at-large division, in which incumbent Roland Belsome, D-New
Orleans, qualified Wednesday.
