Patches of oil, 4 miles wide, just outside of Chandeleur Islands

St. Bernard Parish Oil Spill Operations continues to receive numerous daily
reports of oil sightings in parish waters and marshes. Floating patches of
oil, four miles by three miles wide, were confirmed 5 miles outside of the
Chandeleur Islands between St. Bernard Parish Division 1 and Plaquemines
Parish Division 17 waters. St. Bernard Parish President Craig Taffaro has
directed operations personnel to work in conjunction with Plaquemines Parish
oil spill operations to deploy assets to recover this oil immediately to
avoid impact in either parish.
