Fuel After School Youth Program returns

Fall brings new Fuel events for sixth- to 12th-graders

After a summer of field trips and days of basketball and video games at the
youth center, FUEL AFTER SCHOOL returns with the opening of schools this
fall. FUEL AFTERSCHOOL is a chance for sixth to eighth graders to hang out
with their friends as an alternative to going home after school. Students
can play Xbox 360 or Wii, basketball, dodgeball, access computers, play
board games, just hang out with friends or do homework. Supervision is
always provided and admission is FREE! It is at the FUEL Youth Center, also
known as Paul Noel Gym at 210 E. Moreau St. in Chalmette. It is located
behind the St. Bernard Parish School Board Office. The Youth Center is open
on Tuesdays and Thursdays to sixth- to eighth-grade students from 2:30 to 6
p.m. High School students are also invited to participate in pick-up
basketball games on Sundays from 5 to 9 p.m. at the same location.

The first middle school event this fall will be the FUEL Dodgeball
Tournament held at the Youth Center on September 25th! Last year's
tournament was a great event and the Grand Prize was a party at the Youth
Center for the winning team and their friends. Sixth through eighth graders
can watch for flyers and sign ups at their schools. The first high school
event will be a Saints Party at the Fuel Center on September 2 for the first
regular season game against the Titans. Updates about all upcoming events
will be posted on the Fuel Facebook page. Please contact Abbey Flaherty,
SBPG Youth Coordinator at 224-1653 or at aflaherty at sbpg.net with any
questions.
