Nunez Lecture Series to Focus on Hurricane Protection
Want to learn more about hurricane protection in St. Bernard
Parish? Then don't miss the next History Lecture Series at Nunez Community
College on Monday, October 4th at 7 p.m.
Three speakers will discuss "The New Hurricane Protection System
for St. Bernard". Tim Doody, president of the Southeast Louisiana Flood
Protection Authority, Bob Turner, regional director of the Southeast
Louisiana Flood Protection Authority and Chris Gilmore, Corps of Engineers
Project Coordinator, will discuss the progress of the Lake Borgne surge
barrier. The barrier is the flood control structure near the bridge on
Paris Road.
The lecture is free and open to the general public. A wine and
cheese reception begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Nunez auditorium.
