Well this is probably a sticky wicket for the Germans. As the article
stated, they do have a shortage of skilled workers and have been trying to
get those workers to come to Germany. OTOH, if you decide to immigrate to
Germany it's not easy to become a citizen there. It used to be that it was
impossible unless you could trace back your blood line to Germany.

I know some years ago they were bringing in workers with certain skills only
because they were needed and they were referred to there just as "guest
workers". And personally I find the idea of Jus sanguinis as a basis for
citizenship a bit disturbing. However, if I were going to freely immigrate
to Germany (or any other country) I would want to learn the language and
customs of the place. It would be idiotic otherwise to move there. That's
part of the problem we've had here in the U.S., we make it too easy *not* to
assimilate into the mainstream of the country.

awww, they didn't mean it---it was all a great big
misunderstanding---certainly no one would try to harm a people when
they
extend the hand of love and friendship towards them, would they?

More than a "good point," she's got it right! Hmmm,
considering how
Obama
has repeately preached that the U.S. should become more like
European
countries like Germany, it makes me wonder if he'll do
another one
of his
180's?

But maybe we "now" need to become more like Germany.
Merkel's
message
really slammed hard at the Islamic-Muslim population. Oh, by
the
way, did
everyone hear today about another Muslim bomb attack they
were
planning but
the FBI intercepted. Oh, but no way do the Muslims pose any
kind of
ill
feelings or harm to us Americans - that's just crazy talk
coming
from
right-wing extremists, right?

When will the liberal, progressive jackasses in this country
ever
wake
up?....maybe when the bomb goes off next to them or a family
member?

Says "multiculturalism" isn't working. She's got a good
point.
