Troubled Contractor Loses License
Board Revokes Privileges For Jaroy/RJC

POSTED: 1:04 pm CDT October 25, 2010
UPDATED: 1:25 pm CDT October 25, 2010

The board that regulates Louisiana contractors has revoked the commercial
and residential licenses of a major local firm.

Earlier this month, WDSU News reported that the owners of the former Jaroy
Construction had been called before the contractors' board.

Recently, Jaroy had rebranded itself as RJC Services. That move came after
many problems for the company, including the arrest of owner Jan Buras on
allegations of felony theft.

The contractor is accused of failing to pay thousands of dollars to its
subcontractors. On Friday, Buras was summoned before the Louisiana Licensing
Board for Contractors for "improper management of projects resulting in
project delays, failure to complete projects and failure to pay
subcontractors at St. Bernard Fire Station No. 5, St. Bernard Fire Station
No. 8, the Terrytown Gymnasium and the Lafayette Medical Center."

Now, neither Jaroy nor RJC holds a license to do commercial or residential
work in Louisiana.

Jaroy Construction is not associated with several other area businesses that
share a similar name.
