I could not agree more.  Today, more than ever before party affiliation is
defining who the individual is and how they think.  That's not to say, as in
years past, that many don't care what your affiliation is.  The point here
is the significance of party affiliation isn't important to the voter, it is
important to the candidate.  Many national politicians started out in lowly
elected offices like the School Board.  While they might not have allowed
party ideology to raise it's ugly head, they sure let it be seen when the
hit the national stage.  Point here:  do you think they became extremist
liberals only when they became Congressmen or Senators?  Believe me, it was
there back when they were lowly Councilmen.
 
But wait, look at the recent battle in Texas over what was going into the
text books public school children would learn from.  The "self admitted"
socialist-left wing educator groups were fighting to have language in the
American History text books describe the U.S. as terrible country, riddled
with problems and not exceptional.  Thank God the conservatives - and true
Americans - won out and put into the books that America is an "exceptional"
country based on the founding principles and values - i.e. values, something
that doesn't exist among liberal-leftists.
 
So, in my opinion recent events in Texas proved how educators down to the
elementary level are trying, as you put it, to indoctrinate our children to
"their" way of thinking.  So "yes," it is very important we understand each
School Board candiate's beliefs, values, and principles which we can presume
a great deal by knowing each candidate's party affiliation.

It makes a difference to me. As a very young candidate, I haven't heard
(only recently been able to apply or vote herself but Times-Picayune has her
as a democrat (Many of us now are in the knowledge/belief that "democrats"
are not the same as that of their grandfathers and have gradually moved 99
points to the left and the term seems now defunct. In fact, a great majority
hasn't realized how political correctness, liberalized and socialized
acceptance worldwide were moved leftward as extremists over the past 100
yrs., .Darleen Asevedo-no party, and .Louis Wineski III-R(epublican) if
there's any specific political persuasion.

Many candidates like to remain "neutral" to voters as not to split the vote
and thus decrease any chances of winning. It's a common political strategy
more than not in most races at the local level. However, it does make a
difference if one takes a side on a matter that does determine the mindset
of any leader in a public role. IT wouldn't matter if the employed position
was that of an industrial laborer, because politics is neutralized at the
hands of a machine or tools where political persuasion is not calculated
into how the equipment would operate or not.

Children are our most precious asset, are they not? The school board, along
with its school board superintendent Voitier are the parish's leaders of an
institution/school system which teaches St. Bernard Parish's children and
thus has the influence as to their future of political persuasion.

With so many school boards across the nation teaching kids
"social-institutionalized and indoctrination of socialized education" in a
political sense of liberal socialists, it is fair to say they dictate what
is learned by parish children.

Knowing political affiliation will help parents know educational direction
that kids will be led. I don't care how "good" a teacher is at teaching, it
must be know as well WHAT the kids will be taught.

Also, with national unions running teachers directives, we have to ask
ourselves: "will my kid be indoctrinated" as a "nudge" forward (gradual, as
not to alarm conservatives) into what the leaders' political beliefs feel
are politically correct; Or, will it be parents who wish to teach kids
political beliefs, creationism vs. scientific-monkey-minded Darwin theory as
the specific choice (a belief best taught by parents as to whether
scientific creation replaces moral conception of higher religious creation
influenced by a parent) of how man came to be. Finally, will the kids be
given "choices" in "elementary schools" as to whether they want sex
protection if asked for such? Oh, It goes on and on as more
liberal/socialistic ideas are accepted by our school-district leaders.

Yes, it is correct to know who and what affiliation is ruling and
establishing policies for our children.

Conservatives know this. How is it that liberals don't get it? It could be
because they haven't completely fulfilled their agenda until all kids, who
will be the next generation of voters and nationalied-world-view socialistic
attitudes which will supplant the future adult into easily accepting
socialized education.

It matters.
