Darleen Asevedo wins St. Bernard Parish School Board seat

In a battle of first-time candidates, Darleen Asevedo beat Rashelle
Vandenborre in the runoff for the 3rd District School Board seat in St.
Bernard Parish.

Complete but unofficial results showed Asevedo taking 168 votes, or 55
percent, to Vandenborre's 136 votes, or 45 percent.

Asevedo, of Chalmette, is a sales specialist at A1 Appliances and
Electronics.
Her two adult-aged children were educated in the parish's public schools and
she said during the campaign that she thought the current board and
administration were doing a great job running the school district. As a
board member, she said she will support the board and schools Superintendent
Doris Voitier.
