Chalmette man booked with writing worthless checks to Kenner casino

State Police said today they've arrested a Chalmette man on charges of
writing $1,660 in worthless checks to the Treasure Chest casino in Kenner.

Troop B spokesman Melissa Matey said officers from the Gaming Enforcement
Division were investigating 12 checks that Robert C. John, 36, wrote to the
casino between Dec. 20 and Jan. 6. The bank's name on the checks had been
altered from Regions Bank to Regions Bank of Louisiana, Matey said.

John was arrested Tuesday at the Fair Grounds race track in New Orleans and
booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center with issuing worthless
checks.
