FEMA has announced an additional $1.86 million in Hurricane Katrina-related
funding for the St. Bernard Parish Port Harbor and Terminal District.

The additional money will repair damages to the office spaces in the
warehouse at the port, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said in a
news release Wednesday.

The port facilities sustained heavy flooding and wind damage. The repairs
are scheduled to be completed by next August, FEMA said.

To date, FEMA has obligated $12.4 million to the St. Bernard Port Harbor and
Terminal District. The port opened a new administrative building over the
summer

"This region's economy depends on ports and the St. Bernard Port Harbor and
Terminal District is a critical part of that dependence," Joe Threat, acting
executive director of FEMA's Louisiana Recovery Office, said in a news
release. "The buildings that are receiving the repairs are necessary for the
Port Harbor's daily operations. FEMA's obligated funding ensures these
critical resources are fully repaired and business at the Port Harbor can
return to normal."
