Oyster Festival receives $5,000 grant from the Louisiana Tourism Coastal
Coalition to promote tourism and the seafood industry: The Louisiana Tourism
Coastal Coalition (LTCC) comprised of 10 coastal parishes formed on June 16,
2010 to lead the effort to mitigate tourism losses along the Louisiana
coast. Part of the BP monies were dedicated to market and promote the
state's nature based tourism products including the support of Louisiana
coastal fairs and festivals. A grant process was implemented to help
support nature based festivals, and this month, $5,000 was awarded to
support St. Bernard's local Oyster Festival in Violet held in October. The
Oyster Festival organizers used their grant to market and promote the
festival to increase tourism visitation to St. Bernard. St. Bernard Tourism
Director Gidget McDougall and St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro,
Jr. presented the check to Oyster Festival Chairwoman Phyllis Diecidue,
