CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - St. Bernard Parish is getting $26 million in federal
hurricane aid to build a new elementary school.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is giving the parish school board
the money to build Gauthier Elementary School on the site of the old P.G.T.
Beauregard Middle School, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

St. Bernard Parish Superintendent of Schools Doris Voitier says the money
will allow the parish to build a "top-notch educational facility."

The new elementary school is expected to be done by May 2011.
