Chalmette woman charged with arson, insurance fraud

The Louisiana State Police arrested a Chalmette woman Wednesday morning on
charges of insurance fraud and arson, Troop B announced.

Fredene Findorff, 52, was arrested after an investigation by the state
police's insurance fraud unit.

The investigation began in February 2009, when detectives received a
complaint from Allstate Insurance Company regarding Findorff filing a
fraudulent insurance claim on her Violet home.

Detectives found that Findorff intentionally set her house on fire and
attempted to gain insurance compensation, according to Trooper Melissa
Matey, Troop B spokesperson.

An arrest warrant was issued and Findorff turned herself in to detectives at
the St. Bernard Parish Jail.
