Two Chalmette men have been arrested and more than two pounds of high-grade
marijuana has been seized, according to St. Bernard Sheriff Jack A.
Stephens.

Sheriff's deputies booked Cuong Nguyen, 28, and a cousin, Quoc Nguyen, 27,
both of 2621 Marietta Drive, Chalmette, with possession with intent to
distribute marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia, Stephens
said in a St. Bernard Sheriff's Office release.

Also seized was a vacuum sealer used to seal bags and a digital scale. The
marijuana had an estimated re-sale value of $13,600, the press release said.

The Nguyens were both released from St. Bernard Parish Prison after each
posted $20,000 bonds.

According to the press release, the type of marijuana confiscated is very
high-grade, only grown indoors and rare seen in St. Bernard.

Deputies noticed Cuong Nguyen acting suspiciously in a vehicle in a
supermarket parking lot in Chalmette on Feb. 4, according to Stephens.
Deputies search Cuong Nguyen and found about an ounce of marijuana. After
getting a warrant to search Cong Nguyen's home, an additional two pounds of
the marijuana was seized, according to the press release.

The marijuana was found in a room where Cuong Nguyen lives with his cousin.
Deputies got a warrant for Quoc Nguyen and he was arrested on Wednesday,
authorities said.
