NEW ORLEANS -

Commuters from St. Bernard Parish and the New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward will
have to find alternate routes into the city's business district when the
Judge Seeber Bridge closes for 7 weeks beginning April 2.

The Times-Picayune reported the closing is due to the final phase of a $6.7
million project to update the decades-old bridge.

Motorists can use nearby crossings over the Industrial Canal - the St.
Claude Avenue or Florida Avenue bridges - or use Paris Road to reach
Interstate 10.

The Judge Seeber Bridge opened in the mid-1950s and carries more than 26,000
vehicles daily.
