[StBernard] TELLING IT LIKE IT IS!!!

This letter is a perfect example of how politics and emotions get in the way
of fixing a problem. Sure, everything this guy from Montana says to
"former" U.S. Senator Alan Simpson is 100% correct in regards to the history
of Social Security and how it's been played with in the general fund, and
how Simpson and thousands of other Washington D.C. politicians have earned a
living off of the taxpayers....now, how does his criticism fix the problem
at hand???? It's fine to vent and bitch about those who caused it, but does
that mean the suggestions to fix the current problem are wrong? Or bad
ideas?

What remains is Social Security is going to have to undergo a changes - even
a major overhaul - and some of those "overhauls" we might not like it - but
that doesn't mean we don't have to do it.

Let me suggest whatever changes are made to Social Security, the first
change should be taking Social Security back "out" of the general fund and
reestablishing as a separate trust fund. One of the primary advantages of
separating it (again) is it would make it difficult for those people who
have not put into to it to draw from it. Boy, wouldn't that be a blow to
liberal Democrat/Socialists. If all the overhaulling doesn't include that
measuer - then we're wasting our time.

John
