St. Bernard Parish Library's Saturday Morning Family Fun program features
Hansel and Gretel April 16

Have you ever wanted to go to a concert or a play but you just didn't feel
like getting all gussied up or you couldn't find a babysitter or you felt
guilty about spending a lot of money on tickets? Well, here's your chance
to enjoy a first-rate show in your most comfortable clothes, with the whole
family for FREE! The St. Bernard Parish Library's April installment of its
Saturday Morning Family Fun program brings the MetroPelican Opera to
beautiful, downtown St. Bernard. On April 16th audience members and opera
lovers will enjoy a fantastic performance of Hansel and Gretel. Curtain
time is 10:30 a.m. sharp! Ample parking will be available at the
performance site, the St. Bernard Council on Aging, 8201 W. Judge Perez Dr.
in Chalmette. No need to fight traffic or pay to park-just come to the
program, get a front row seat and enjoy the show. And for an artistic
encore following the library's activity, attendees can take a short stroll
over to Torres Park to continue celebrating the arts at St. Bernard's own
Art in April.

Library friends are sure to enjoy their visit with the MetroPelican Opera.
In 1988 the New Orleans Opera Association created an outreach program that
would enable scores of children to discover the pageantry and artistry of
opera. Since that time, the MetroPelican Opera members have toured
throughout Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. St. Bernard Parish Library is
proud to be able to bring this wonderful musical and theatrical experience
to area residents.

The St. Bernard Parish Library's Saturday Morning Family Fun series is
funded by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of
Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in
cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the St.
Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs. Area residents are encouraged to
support the arts by attending this 45-minute program with their friends and
relatives.

For more information, please call the library at 504-279-0448 or visit the
library's temporary facility at 7701 W. Judge Perez Dr. in Arabi. Library
hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Friday and
Saturday 9 a.m. thru 5 p.m.
