St. Bernard Parish Private Slab Removal Program to begin

Residents who own lots with slabs may apply for the free program

St. Bernard Parish Government will begin removing privately owned slabs from
private property where the structure has been previously demolished. The
work will consist of the removal and disposal of all concrete slab
foundations and/or concrete flatwork. The work will also include fill,
grading, sloping and compaction of low areas to promote proper drainage.
This program will be at no cost to the owner(s) of the property.

The program is being funded with Community Development Block Grant Funds
through the state Office of Community Development. It is being administered
by the Louisiana Land Trust in a cooperative partnership with St. Bernard
Parish Government. This $10,000,000 budget for the private slab removal was
secured by State Commissioner of Administration Paul Rainwater, who when he
was Louisiana Recovery Authority Director, secured at the request of St.
Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr.

"This is one of the last remaining activities to rid our parish of any
remnants of Hurricane Katrina," Taffaro said. "We are very grateful for the
cooperation and support from the state for the funding and assistance in the
administration of this effort."

If you wish to participate in this program, you will need to provide proof
