It seems Parish Councilmen of all parishes forget that the Council is a
Legislative arm of local government and the parish president is the
executive. Once the Council gives the OK for a job to be done, it is the
president's job to get the job done in the best way he sees fit.

If that is the role you want, then you should run for it.

We need to watch that the camel does not get its nose under the ole police
jury tent.  The recently introduced legislation which would require Council
approve on contracted parish work before final payment, "giving us back our
authority" as one councilmember explained in an earlier council meeting.
