ST. BERNARD PARISH GOVERNMENT OPENS ITS FIRST VISITORS INFORMATION CENTER AT
AYCOCK BARN IN ARABI

St. Bernard Parish President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. and the St. Bernard
Parish Tourist Commission held a reception to celebrate the grand opening of
the parish's first ever Visitors Information Center. The celebration event
was the culmination of the St. Bernard Parish Tourist Commission celebration
of National Tourism Awareness Week that featured daily luncheon events at
the Visitors Information Center at the Aycock Barn, located at 409 Aycock
Street in Arabi in the heart of the Old Arabi Historic District. It featured
live entertainment by Sid Barfield and food by Riverbend Bistro.

The public is invited to visit St. Bernard's Visitors Information Center
between Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and meet the
"St. Bernard Faces of Tourism," enjoy complimentary refreshments, pick up
tourist information about attractions and upcoming events, receive free
goodies and learn how tourism supports our local economy.

Activities from earlier in the week included lunch-time events with
information given on local charter fishing, the Islenos Museum Complex, the
Chalmette National Historic Park, the State Park with local meals offered,
all meant to spread the word about what St. Bernard has to offer visitors
and residents alike.
