Jer Responds:

If this criminal had time to go home and get a gun, and think about what he
was going to do and who he was going to kill, I'd say this case was
premeditated and should not have mediated and have him plead guilty to a
lesser charge.

District attorneys should not yield to lesser charges where evidence is
overwhelming just to send someone to jail. If he can get 80 years, this
means he'll probably serve 20-30 and 3 years already served, and get out
smelling St. Bernard flowers at some point in time.

There is too much softness on crime. Too much. This is especially true if
someone is of color and this is an issue:

If the fact is /study contends that blacks who kill non-whites actually are
less likely to be executed than blacks who kill whites, why is there a
disparity? Why is it that the state cannot execute everyone equally instead
of downgrading a verdict believing that it's fruitless or pointless to try a
Negro for killing another Negro? Shouldn't a murder include anyone that is
a victim equally? The district attorney and a jury should realize the
equality of the matter that a perpetrator/accused should get the ultimate
reward for his/her action of killing someone without justification (murder)
no matter who, what or any circumstance which plays into the case.

There's no justice if justice is denied because of this stupidity and sense
of it all. Clint Eastwood's movie, "Hang'm High!" says it all. The jails
are full of those who should be justifiably getting the eye-for-an-eye
treatment of justice.
