I love beer. With that said, some adults act younger than their children
counterparts when they're at a playground and drinking. Isn't beer really
for the private moment with friends and in barrooms? Yes, revenue is always
needed, but the first time shots ring out or a knifing occurs between these
overgrown drunken "sailors", someone's going to pay the piper.

The truth may hurt, but do our children really want us drinking and fighting
(sometimes to the death).

Keep it a family outing--not a pre-funeral event. Maybe because I grew up
somewhere in life, I don't know.

The St. Bernard Parish Council at its meeting Tuesday paved the way for beer
sales at some local youth sports tournaments.

St. Bernard Parish Councilman George Cavignac Parish President Craig Taffaro
cautioned that he would first "vet" the idea through the parish's parental
advisory group before requesting the necessary permitting. The parish
bounces ideas off a group of local parents now and again to gauge public
sentiment, Taffaro explained.

According to the amendment introduced by Councilman George Cavignac, alcohol
still cannot be served at St. Bernard Recreational Department parish youth
league games. Only St. Bernard
