Two brothers have surrendered to St. Bernard Parish authorities on attempted
murder charges. The charges stem from an incident that occured on July 13.
The brothers, 22-year-old Dewing Alveris and 17-year-old Danniel Alveris,
surrendered to police on August 4th.

Police say that the Alveris brothers are two of six individuals that were
involved in a drug transaction that turned into a verbal arguement, then a
shootout. The four other individuals, Alonzo Smalls, 19, of New Orleans,
Dewayne Boutain, 17, of Harvey, Jackee Bienemy, 19, of Braithwaite, and
Belinda Alveris, 41, of Violet have already been taken into custody. Belinda
Alveris is the mother of Dewing and Danniel.

According to police, Small and Boutain sold a bag of marijuana to one of the
women, who began arguing with the two men over the size of the bag. After
the arguement, the women picked up the Alveris brothers and went looking for
Boutain and Small.

After they arrived, one of the brothers began fighting with Small. Guns were
produced and shots rang out as Alveris ran and got back into the vehicle.
Police believe that more than one gun was used in this incident.
