August is National Water Quality Month
 
Help us protect the water quality in our neighborhood canals and nearby
Central Wetlands.
 
Request a Public Meeting in Question and Answer Format with the Louisiana
DEQ.  
Deadline to submit request is 12:30pm August 19th
 
The Meraux Refinery's water discharge permit has public noticed for renewal,
and still contains a provision for "emergency" discharges of untreated waste
water / process water into our neighborhood canals, which drain into the
Central Wetlands of Lake Borgne.  LDEQ should require Murphy Oil, the owner
of the Meraux refinery, to increase storm water capacity with added rain
water storage tanks and berms around the storm water ponds, so not to foul
our canals and wetlands.
