A Violet man was booked with drug possession after St. Bernard Parish
sheriff's deputies found 24 pieces of crack cocaine concealed in his
buttocks, authorities said.

Joseph Major, 32, 2918 Daniel Drive, was booked Tuesday with possession with
intent to distribute nine grams of crack.

Major was brought into St. Bernard Parish Prison and booked as a parole
violator about noon on Tuesday. Chief Deputy James Pohlmann said when Major
was searched before entering the prison facility, authorities found a clear
plastic bag containing 24 wrapped pieces of crack in his buttocks.

The cocaine has a street value of about $1,000, he said.

Major was being held on $25,000 bond, the Sheriff's Office said.
