Local personality George Barasich appears in Aug. 17 special premiering on
History Channel

"YOU DON'T KNOW DIXIE"

Local personality George Barasich, a St. Bernard shrimp fisherman, is a part
of the special premiering on the History Channel, Wednesday, August 17th at
8 p.m. Barasich speaks about the hardships he and his fellow shrimpers
endured personally and professionally in the aftermath of Katrina and the BP
oil spill. He also shares stories about living in the South and how much he
loves what he does. "You Don't Know Dixie" is a two-hour special telling
the story of how the South helped make America. Barasich is prominently
featured.

"He embodies the spirit of resiliency that is such a hallmark of the South"
quotes Susan Ievoli, Director, Public Relations, History Channel.

"You Don't Know Dixie" unearths surprises and misconceptions dating back to
the earliest days of American history and how the South has one thing in
common: self-reliance. From Antebellum reconstruction to the post-Katrina
era, life in Dixie always depended on making do with what was available.
Some products of Southern ingenuity, like air conditioning, shipping
containers and tow trucks, changed the world. Others - think grits and
moonshine - have simply made it a better place.

"Your Don't Know Dixie" is produced for HISTORY by NorthSouth Productions,
Mark Hickman, Charlie DeBevoise and M. Blaine Hopkins are Executive
Producers for NorthSouth Productions. Executive Producer for HISTORY is John
Verhoff.
