MERAUX, La. - Nearly $50,000 of copper wire was stolen from a St. Bernard
wastewater treatment plant last month, and now deputies are asking the
public's help in finding the suspects.

Deputies are looking for 25-year-old Dwayne James, 30-year-old Reuben Albin,
and 28-year-old Christy Smith.

Chief Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann said James worked for a roofing company
doing work at the treatment plant. Albin is James' half-brother, and Smith
is James' girlfriend.

Pohlmann said the burglary was discovered July 25 at the parish's Munster
Drive treatment plant in Meraux. Two metal storage containers there had
electrical wire inside worth $50,000. That wire and a utility trailer were
stolen.

Pohlmann said anyone with information on their whereabouts should call the
St. Bernard Sheriff's Office at (504) 271-2501 or Crimestoppers at (504)
822-1111 and could be eligible for a reward.
