St. Bernard Seafood and Farmers Market to celebrate Nickelodeon's Worldwide
Day of Play Saturday, September 24

Market will operate Saturdays through Dec. 17

The weather outside is changing for the better and the St. Bernard Seafood &
Farmers Market is the perfect place to enjoy the outdoors this fall. With
the great success that has been experienced since the Grand Opening event in
May, the Market has decided to remain open through December 17 - just in
time for the holidays! Come to the Aycock Barn at 409 Aycock Street in the
heart of the Old Arabi Historic District to enjoy the wonderful fall
weather, meet friendly neighbors, experience great entertainment and do some
shopping for the upcoming holiday season.

To kick-off the fall Market season, the St. Bernard Seafood & Farmers Market
has teamed up with the St. Bernard Kiwanis Club and Chalmette High School
Key Club to celebrate Nickelodeon's 8th Annual Worldwide Day of Play on
Saturday, September 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The day will feature a wide
array of physical activities for kids and their families to encourage active
and healthy lifestyles. Additionally, as it has for the past seven years to
commemorate the Worldwide Day of Play, Nickelodeon's networks and websites
will go dark from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. (all times ET/PT) as a signal to kids
and families to get up and get active.

Worldwide Day of Play began in 2004 as a part of Nickelodeon's The Big Help
initiative, a kid-led movement for positive change that focuses on four key
issues: the environment, education, health and wellness, and community
service. Through The Big Help health and wellness component, kids are
encouraged to be more active for healthier lifestyles. The Kiwanis Club and
Key Club will be actively promoting different ways for families to stay
active together, offering activity ideas for both kids and adults to "play"
everyday. So bring the kids out to the Market and enjoy a fun-filled day of
hopscotch, 4-square, hula hoop, jump rope and much more!

While enjoying the festivities, be sure to shop the St. Bernard Seafood &
Farmers Market which provides fresh food and fresh ideas to help local
residents improve their quality of life. The Market has an array of
selections to choose from this weekend including locally grown produce,
fresh shrimp and fish, delicious baked goods, jams and pickled goods, fresh
herbs, and much more. We are also proud to introduce one of our newest
vendors, WesMar Farms, who offers fresh goat milk and a variety of goat
cheeses. Additionally, the Farmers Market features several local artisans
selling their handmade original crafts.

The market will operate every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through
December 17, rain or shine. It is geared toward local farmers and fishermen
so that they can sell their products to the local community. However, few
spaces are available for local artisans who specialize in handmade arts and
crafts. Those who would like to sell flowers, bedding plants and seeds are
also very welcomed. Consumers or vendors interested in learning more about
the market can email Market Manager Ashley Proze at market at sbpg.net

Aycock Street, Arabi, La 70032, can be accessed off of St. Claude Avenue by
turning south at the signs that say St. Bernard Visitor Center and Seafood
and Farmers Market.
