ST. BERNARD PARISH RECEIVES $2.1 MILLION IN TOURISM RECOVERY FUNDING



The State of Louisiana, Office of the Lieutenant Governor and BP Exploration
& Production, Inc. approved St. Bernard Parish Government's tourism recovery
plan and was awarded $2.1 million for its implementation. These funds were
granted to parishes whose tourism industry was impacted by the BP Oil Spill.
These funds are to used to create marketing campaigns that will encourage
visitors to return to the impacted communities.



"This money will go a long way to trumpeting what is good about St.
Bernard's fishing and eco-tourism," St. Bernard Parish President Craig P.
Taffaro, Jr. said. "Encouraging visitors and residents to fish in St.
Bernard and to eat our seafood are important to our recovery as is building
roads."



The three-year plan will include but will not be limited to, a new tourism
website design, branding campaign, TV and print advertisements, development
of a visitor guide, support grants for local fairs and festivals and other
tourism products that will increase tourist visitation to St. Bernard
Parish.



The plan will focuses on St. Bernard Parish and its unique culture,
historical attractions world class fishing, outdoor recreational
opportunities, parks, scenic byways all capitalizing on our proximity to the
City of New Orleans.
