"....No one cares anymore about what Lynn Deans says or thinks because he
doesn't live in SBP anymore."

If only that were true. I was made privy to a recent poll by a campaign
manager of one of the candidates for Sheriff - not all the poll, but some
info. Individuals and organizations were polled to determine the value of
their endorsements: would an endorsement form this person/organization make
you more likely or less likely to vote for a candidate they endorse, or
would it make no difference at all? Lynn Dean resulted in a +13, the second
highest of any person or organization tested.

In the polling world, anything above a +7 is considered good, anything above
+12 is considered strong and to be sought after. It would appear the old
man still draws a lot of respect, particularly among the 55 and over group,
and anyone in local politics that doesn't think so is showing their lack of
knowledge and to be naïve.

For your curiosity's sake, the only person to poll higher than Mr. Dean was
Senator David Vitter. Jindal was right behind Mr. Dean, the Alliance for
Good Government was at +1 and the Times-Picayune was a dead even 0. Just
about all local politicians had slightly negative numbers, including the
outgoing Sheriff whose public endorsement would be poisonous.

I have a funny feeling after seeing this there's going to be one house in
particular down in Houma whose phone will be ringing quite a bit after the
primary.
