Three Algiers teens face armed robbery and carjacking charges in St. Bernard
Parish in connection with an incident Wednesday in which they followed a
woman from the Bywater area of New Orleans to Chalmette, where they robbed
her a gunpoint, authorities said.

St. Bernard sheriff's officials said the woman, who lives in Chalmette, was
robbed of a phone, an iPod and a GPS at gunpoint by a male around 11 p.m.
after parking at her apartment complex. She was forced to hand over her
keys, and the robber took off in her vehicle.

Less than an hour after the Chalmette carjacking, New Orleans police who
were watching a stolen vehicle in Algiers to see if someone came back to it
saw another car pull up and park near it, the Sheriff's Office said. Three
males got out of the vehicle and went inside a nearby residence.

The license plate on the vehicle the males got out of matched that of the
vehicle just reported stolen in Chalmette.

Upon entering the residence to question the three males, New Orleans police
officers found the items reported stolen from the Chalmette woman, including
the keys to her vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.

Shawn Ramee, 18, who lived at the house, and the two 16-year-olds whose
names weren't released because they are minors, were booked with possession
of stolen property and jailed in New Orleans, the Sheriff's Office said.

St. Bernard sheriff's detectives obtained warrants from a St. Bernard judge
for the arrest of all three on charges of armed robbery and carjacking in
the Chalmette case.

The minors have been transferred to the St. Bernard Juvenile Detention
Center. After Ramee is released in New Orleans he will be brought to St.
Bernard Parish to be prosecuted, Chief Deputy James Pohlmann said.
