St. Bernard Parish Celebrates Christmas in St. Bernard Parade to roll Dec. 3
at 3 p.m.

Several floats, marching groups and bands will greet children of all ages as
the annual St. Bernard Parish Christmas Parade rolls down Judge Perez Drive
in Chalmette on Saturday, December 3 at 3 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will
greet children from their perch on the last float.

The Chalmette High School Ambassadors will fill in as Santa's elves for the
parade walking alongside the float. The elves will gather children's
letters to Santa, and the letters should include a return address so Santa
can respond.

This year's Christmas Parade - the third one since Hurricane Katrina - is
organized by the Celebrate St. Bernard Committee and the St. Bernard Tourism
Commission. The parade will begin at Chalmette High School, 1100 E. Judge
Perez Drive in Chalmette, and end in the Sigur Civic Center parking lot at
8201 W. Judge Perez Drive in Chalmette.

The parade will include bands from Chalmette High School and Andrew Jackson,
Trist and St. Bernard middle schools. In addition to the bands, other
kid-friendly entertainment and units will include several storybook
characters as well as McGruff of the Sheriff's Office, Sparky from the Fire
Department, and a special appearance by The Grinch. The parade will include
two dune buggy groups and one horse-riding group.

The parade will end at Torres Park Community Playground with an after-parade
party featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus. The party will include several free
activities, including Christmas caroling, cookie decorating, and Christmas
crafts. Children will be able to take pictures with Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus
and the Grinch. BRING YOUR CAMERA. Pizza and water will be sold. Celebrate
St. Bernard Christmas t-shirts will be sold for $10 each.
