Florida man charged with raping Chalmette woman at her father's home

CHALMETTE, LA - A Florida man who had been staying at a trailer park in
Chalmette was booked on charges that he raped a woman he had just met and
stole her father's truck and some television sets from their home.

According to St. Bernard Sheriff's Office spokesman Steve Cannizaro, the
suspect, identified as 40-year-old Raymond Dewolfe, is alleged to have raped
the victim in her father's home on Nov. 19 in Chalmette, while the father
was out of town.

Cannizaro said Dewolfe has an extensive criminal record in Florida, mostly
for drugs. He said Dewolfe admitted having sex with the woman but said it
was consensual.

A Florida man with an extensive criminal record who has been staying in
Chalmette was booked with rape of a woman he just met and theft of her
father's truck and two television sets, Sheriff-elect James Pohlmann said.

The woman reported the thefts Nov. 19 and also reported she believed she had
been drugged and raped by a man she had recently met, Sheriff-Elect James
Pohlmann said. When she woke up she said the property was gone.

Deputies tracked down Dewolfe at a trailer after tracking him by a nickname
the woman said he used.

Dewolfe is being held in St. Bernard Prison in lieu of bond set at $45,000.
