The Gathering Place in Arabi holds Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting

Former bowling alley converted to community center to be used for
counseling, Bible teaching, and children's inflatable birthday parties,
receptions and other special events

After several years and help from hundreds of volunteers from around the
country and St. Bernard Parish, on December 9th 2011 the ribbon was finally
cut to announce the opening of The Gathering Place. St. Bernard Parish
President Craig P. Taffaro, Jr. was on hand to present a plaque and
congratulations for the great endeavor that has finally opened.

Over the years many people have taken part in working with the Gathering, a
local non-profit 501(c)(3) who has been working on the old Penny Lanes
bowling alley and have converted it into a center for community, said Matt
Woodward, Director of Community for The Gathering Place. The Gathering Place
has been doing many things in the community such as counseling, Zumba, Slim
Down St. Bernard, multiple youth events along with meeting together for
Bible teaching and community. Now that the Gathering Place is open, it is
also expanding into children's inflatable birthday parties, weddings,
receptions and other parties and special events. The goal of The Gathering
Place is to be a benefit to the community. The Gathering Place is located at
7265 W. St. Bernard Hwy. in Arabi. For more information, call 504-264-5202
